BHOJ (Indian Restaurant)

Melbourne’s award winning Indian cuisine Chef already operated a successful suburban out-post when approached by the developer of the first restaurant precinct at Melbourne’s ‘New Quay’ water side suburb. BCPL worked closely with the Chef owner to resolve and document the extensive commercial kitchen and we consulted closely with the developers team of tenancy design coordinators to deliver an elegant, culturally rich space which has earned high accolades in the dining community. Bold expression of base building structure has created key ‘gallery’ like spaces for authentic Indian antiques and curios. Many hand crafted items from India including cutlery, flat ware, table bases and uniforms were sourced from India resulting in an authentic touch to the crafted built environment. Sculpture, large 3D letters in stainless steel and reclaimed bridge timber benches anchor the outdoor terrace with bold, iconographic features. A vibrant, large scale wall mural was designed by us to adorn a previously bland section of base building structure; this has created a bold ‘calling-card’ for the restaurant for arriving patrons.
