FORD PARK PAVILION

Our design for the Merimbula Ford Park Pavilion brings together the diverse needs of the site and its community through a thoughtful, flexible approach that responds to both place and people. It creates a symbiotic relationship with surrounding activities while forming strong, intuitive connections between key destinations such as parking, the beach, playground, park, Ocean Road, courts, and amenities. The space is visually engaging, inviting, and inclusive, offering shelter and comfort in all weather conditions to support year-round use. Carefully scaled and robust yet playful, it balances durability with delight, with the design and materials reflecting the coastal character through references to driftwood, weathered and rusted boats, native grasses, and sand dunes. Using locally sourced materials and integrating local art, it respects culture and history while creating a strong sense of place. Designed as a central meeting place and community hub, it encourages interaction, celebrates local contribution and volunteering, and remains adaptable for future growth, evolving needs, and expanded opportunities.
