This project involved the replacement of the previous Markham Reserve Pavilion which had reached the end of its useful life. The building and its access pathways had to be radically altered to address current regulations and standards, and to make the facility amenable to male and increasing numbers of female sports participants. The design offers complete flexibility in how changing rooms and amenities are shared by different sexes and the community social spaces which support the sporting functions. Council see the design as an adaptable template for the many other park pavilions due for rejuvenation.
